I dont know if the monsters consider you one th ebrink of dying, they might look at you as your health percentage of maximum. however, if they look, and see you have 55 hp, and think, hmm, 480 is normal, they may stay with you.

Um, not quite. They don't run immediately from AoE Damage, but once their hp goes below 50%ish they will run away *AND* Stay away. I've tested this myself a few times. With SoJ and AoE Ele attacks, they will run and stop far away from you until they have regenerated hp, Come back and attack, repeat.
